Le Chéile FRC Chronicles July 25: What’s Happened and What’s Next

Summer has truly arrived at Le Chéile Family Resource Centre, and the energy here is as warm as the weather! We’re proud to continue serving as a lively, welcoming space where connection, support, and community spirit thrive. Whether you’re popping in for a chat, accessing services, or taking part in a group, there’s always something happening at Le Chéile.

July brought a sad goodbye as Liz, the Le Chéile Childcare Manager, left the service for pastures new. Liz will be really missed by the children, families and staff of Le Chéile and we wish her well in her new post.

Two parenting programmes will be running in Charleville this autumn, offering free support and practical tips for parents. The first, Managing Challenging Behaviour, is aimed at parents of primary school children and will run every Thursday morning from 9:30am to 11:30am at St Joseph’s Primary School, starting on Thursday 11th September. Over six weekly sessions, parents will explore how to manage technology battles, find new ways to resolve sibling rivalry, help children cope with big emotions, and develop strategies to handle challenging behaviours. The programme is organised by Le Chéile Family Resource Centre in partnership with Scoil Náisiúnta Íosaf Noafa and Tusla – Child and Family Agency.

The second programme, Parenting Plus© – Adolescent Programme, is designed for parents and carers of pre-teens and teenagers aged 11 to 17. Starting on Monday 8th September 2025, the course runs for six weeks on Monday mornings from 9:30am to 12:00 noon. This interactive programme focuses on building strong, positive relationships between parents and their teenagers while maintaining firm boundaries. Topics include effective communication, boosting your teenager’s self-esteem and confidence, negotiating rules, using positive discipline, and managing conflict. Organised by Le Chéile Family Resource Centre, Tusla, and the HSE, the course is free of charge, with tea and coffee provided. For more information or to register, contact Noreen on 087 986 5650 or Allison on 087 900 8726.
